2000 – 2009

  1. The company initially started undertaking installations on behalf of equipment suppliers and gate manufacturers, with Paul and an apprentice engineer.

  2. In the second year, the company grew to take on two more engineers.

  3. This year saw the company supply and install more than 70 new automatic gate systems and increase the repair side of the business to four engineers.

  4. Another good year.

  5. With further planned growth in 2004, the company was incorporated into Jamesway Ltd and retained the well know trading name of James Automation.  Having worked for many years with the South African supplier Centurion, we attended further training and achieved Approved Installer status.

  6. From 2005 we found that our services were required on ever-larger projects.  We won a major contract with Thames Valley Police to secure their new HQ site in Oxfordshire, which included over 400 metres of high security fencing and large sliding gates which had to give rapid operation. To ensure we met this need, further investment was made in a four-wheel drive 7.5 tonne ‘go-anywhere’ on-site workshop which is fully equipped with on-board welding and power generation systems.

  7. Another good year.

  8. This year brought new challenges with increasing legislative and compliance requirements from some clients.  Growth continued and a second service base was established in Kent to enable us to respond quickly to the automatic gate systems on the county’s courts and other key clients across the Garden of England.  Our Tousek Approved Installer status was attained with advanced technical training at their manufacturing facility in Vienna, Austria.

  9. In 2008, our Managing Director continued to invest in people and equipment in order to further improve our capabilities. Projects this year included a telescopic tracked sliding gate on the new flagship London Underground Shepherds Bush Central Line Station.

  10. We saw further investment in new vehicles with improved emissions and efficiency.  We were appointed with Expert Installer status by Jackson’s Fencing in January – a reflection of our attention to detail when installing their superb range of gates and fencing.  In July we attended further updated product training on the Centurion range of products at their new Johannesburg facility, further strengthening our in depth technical knowledge.

2010 – Present

  1. With safety being at the forefront in 2010, an experience engineer joined the team from a risk management background, with the sole responsibility to advise clients and costumers on how risks can be managed, while maintaining security.
